The Affiliation of Fire Door Inspectors, AFDI, are delighted to announce that we are open for business!
We are a not for profit organisation.
Our mission is to improve fire safety in relation to fire doors through improved knowledge and understanding amongst our members. We consider AFDI members to be colleagues, not competitors, and as such, we aim to improve knowledge and standards as a group rather than as individuals.
The ultimate goal in this respect is clients becoming confident that by engaging the services of an AFDI member, they are assured the best of service levels in the fire door safety sector.
Membership is limited to individuals or companies that have no connection to or interest in an associate company that offers fire door supply, installation or remediation services which we believe makes the integrity of our members unquestionable. Of course, we are not saying such companies do not offer an exemplary service, but AFDI members are truly independent and can act without conflict of interest.
Full members, MAFDI, in addition to meeting all other membership criteria, are required to be current members of a UKAS accredited scheme for fire door inspections which gives clients the added assurance of knowing those members are regularly audited to ensure high service standards are maintained.
Neil Ashdown, AFDI chairman, said, “For some time now, a number of long-serving professional fire door inspectors have felt that the sector could benefit from improved professionalism and consistency of reporting. AFDI will provide a direct line to a wealth of fire door related knowledge and experience that can be tapped into by building operators and fire door inspectors alike. This will result in improved standards for fire door inspections and improved clarity for building operators to cut a straighter and more even path to fire door safety”.
